A congratulatory quote or thoughts based on a favorite Bible verse does more than simply congratulate the couple on the birth of their child; a short, personalized phrase can bring a smile on a busy day when there is more than the usual expected work surrounding the care of a newborn infant or it can serve to remind us that with each child comes a new beginning of a life filled with hope and promise.

As Eda J. LeShan stated, the wonder, hopes and the dream of possibilities is endless and even more amazing when all of the above is contained in such a tiny, fragile human being. How could parents fail to be moved by the depth of these words?

Funny Baby Congratulations Quotes

A little humor never hurts and can alleviate stress PLUS a funny saying can be just as motivational as a serious one. If sending a card to congratulate a friend who has just had a new baby you might consider adding the following wording on the inside including personal details if you like: Parenting may not be the easiest job in the world, but it is definitely the best one ever! Congratulations (your friends' names here) on the arrival of your new baby.

This is one of my favorites of all the zebra quotes and sayings for a baby's nursery that I've found. Of course, it's credited to the master of inspirational quotations for kids himself, Dr. Seuss.

Depending on the personal mindset of the reader, these words can take on a variety of meanings.

When read in context in the Dr. Seuss book (On Beyond Zebra) they are issued as a challenge to the reader to imagine an alphabet that reaches beyond the letter "z".

However, I added it to my list of favorites of zebra quotes and sayings. for a baby's nursery not only for its educational meaning but as it applies to life lessons. You might imagine that a child that is raised in sight of the words "There's no limit to how much you'll know, depending how far beyond zebra you go." either framed and hung on the wall or displayed via wall decals would fully comprehend that the world is indeed their oyster and that the possibilities of the things that they might achieve are truly endless.

Another popular zebra quotation open to interpretation is found in Proverbs, "A leopard cannot change it's spots, nor a zebra it's stripes." Perhaps parents could introduce this to their little ones at an early age as a lesson to make every small decision carefully because once the die is cast; it's not easily broken.

I hope that you enjoyed today's inspirational quotes and that you will visit us often. If these zebra sayings have personal meaning to you, please feel free to share.

The problem is that man thinks of justice in a different way than God. We believe that justice has been served when the perpetuators of crime or evil works are punished with a jail sentence or even sentenced to death. Humans tend to focus on the eye for an eye brand of justice for the evil that people do.

Thankfully, God does not view things in the same way and He practices to give us what we need rather than what we deserve and that is also what He requires us to do in our dealings with others.

A JOKE

A lady of a certain age visited a professional photographer to have her portrait made. When she returned to see the proofs she told the photographer that the pictures did not do her justice. The photographer commented, “Ma'am, when it comes to your portraits you don't need justice; you need mercy!”

LOVE AND FORGIVENESS

And mercy is something that we all need! We need for God to be merciful toward us and we need him to love us, forgive us and accept us. We are well aware that even the most devout Christians do not always walk in faith as we should. We are often separated from our beliefs and the way that we live out our lives do not reflect our spirituality.
Please refer to this inspirational Bible verse about love and kindness, Micah 6:8 that tells us, "What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

When the Lord asks us to carry out justice he is requiring us to live and walk in our faith in our daily lives. Just going to church on Sunday is not enough. Our faith should lead us to work from justice and to witness to others in the way that we conduct our lives. To be truthful there's no danger in mistaking us for Christ our Savior but He should be seen in us in the way we live. It’s a goal worth having to bring God's Justice and ours closer together and to conduct acts of kindness that remind others of our Lord who is the kindest of all.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-24663540141078151182010-11-13T09:09:00.001-06:002010-11-13T09:12:44.081-06:00Communicating with God through PrayerCommunicating with God through prayer is the very best way to deal with what the world throws at us. In fact, we owe it to ourselves to start each day in fellowship with our Creator to give us the strength and inspiration to accept His will and to acknowledge his wisdom.

When my mother was a child her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. At this time, this more or less was considered a death sentence. Medical treatments were much less advanced in those days and the choices open to her were radiation and radical surgery neither of which offering any real guarantee of survival. In fact the doctor told her to get her spiritual house in order and be prepared for the worst.

Feeling better best chances were with surgery that is the option she chose. After the surgery the doctor told her that even with radiation she would probably live no longer than a year or so. The treatments made her so sick and she realized that for that one short year she was going to have no quality of life and stopped so that she could enjoy her children for the short time she had left to her.

My grandmother and grandfather had only been Christians for a few years but remembered hearing a sermon on how God had the power to heal and referred to this inspirational Bible verse in James: 5:14-15 that tells us, "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he had committed sand, they shall be forgiven him."

So they called the elders as indicated that they should in the Bible verse and asked them to come and pray for my grandmother. The elder said that they had never received such a call and had not prayed over a sick person in this manner before but has asked a prayed a simple prayer asking for this young mother to be healed.

The next day she was released from the hospital to go home and prepare to die. However, I am here and able to tell you this story today because that small group of believers gathered together in her hospital room for the purpose of communicating with God through prayer in her behalf. You see, she was healed and live not only to raise her children but to see her grandchildren.

Our heavenly Father created us to stay in fellowship with Him and to communicate with him through prayer and offers great benefits if we will just call on Him for guidance. Do you have a need that communicating with God through prayer might be filled? We should all work diligently to develop our relationship with Him and to communicate our needs to Him and not look to the opinions and approval of man for fulfillment.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-3892339919425218602010-10-01T12:10:00.003-05:002010-10-01T12:16:31.874-05:00HOW GOD MADE USWhen I read the following Bible verse, in those quiet moments when my mind is roaming free, I often wonder how God made us and why.

I Corinthians 12:12-20 tells us, "Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, ‘because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be?"

While on vacation recently, we were lounging on the beach with all of our children playing around us, when our three-year-old daughter came running from behind my lounge chair to shout at the seagulls telling them, "Go away!" "You're not scaring me!" Her delivery was so convincing that the birds actually scattered for a few moments.

Amused, I turned back to reading my book until I heard my other daughter crying. Nowhere near as brave as her older sister she was afraid of the birds and was standing riveted in the hot sand in distress. Then here comes my three year-old began telling the birds to get away from her sister! Once again they took off and my toddler was able to relax for a moment.

This event reminded me of just how God has made us all so different. Even members of the same family so close in age have completely different personalities. What this tells me is just how each of our personalities fit together as part of God's plan for us.

My younger daughter was easy creating a work of art (toddler style) until she became afraid of the birds. But her big sister was ready, willing and able to help remove the fear so that she could move on with her artwork.

I believe that how God made us was to arrange each of us to play an integral part in the “body” of His family all working with one another in His perfect plan. The Lord puts people in our lives that are capable of assisting and helping us calm our fears and get through difficult times so that we can finish our assigned masterpieces. But it is our choice to accept their help.

The ultimate friend, protect her and helper is our God. He is all knowing and is aware of exactly what we need even before the moment is at hand. He is the ultimate defender that gives us the strength to stand against trouble and resist temptations.

He knows exactly what we need because we are His children and created in His image. As His children all we need to do is listen for His instruction and accept his help.

When we spend time at His feet and allow Him to be the greatest influence in our lives we will have an existence full of favor and benefits of salvation and there are so many inspirational Bible verses that attest to this as fact.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-71918284660452249362010-09-21T09:25:00.003-05:002010-09-21T09:37:28.794-05:00BIBLE VERSE about PAIN and SUFFERINGOf all the Bible verses about pain and suffering my favorite quote are the words of Jesus himself that Matthew 11:28-30
quotes: "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest until your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

How we deal with our pain and suffering is the result of how we perceive it and the reason for it. Jesus is ministry was filled with many setbacks, rejections and painful times, yet at the end of His life here on earth He continued to forgive others of their faults and ignorance. His perception of pain and suffering was that of an easy yoke and a lighter burden. Even in the face of much strife and suffering he continued to make away where there seemed not to be one.

In this Bible verse about pain and suffering he instructs us to learn how He himself managed to shoulder the burdens because he knew better than any other that this world was going to continue to bring challenges to Christians on a daily basis. He also reminds us that while we are in this world we are not OF this world. He does this so that our perception of day-to-day struggles should be looked at through His eyes and with His nature.

We should constantly remind ourselves that we should not allow the obstacles that are thrown in our path to skew our perceptions and well on the problem without taking them to the problem solver, Jesus Christ. His goal was to make our pain and suffering lighter and our yoke in life easier by learning from him, leaning on him and most of all excepting the salvation that he offered us.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-5892065961110712272010-09-18T09:47:00.004-05:002010-09-18T09:53:04.325-05:00GOD'S PLAN FOR MEHere’s my favorite Bible verse regarding God’s plan for me Jeremiah 29:11 tells me, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I should have this inspirational Bible verse pasted on my bathroom mirror, refrigerator, etc. so that I will be reminded that I am not in control and to look for God's guidance before jumping in and pushing forth with my own will.

I’m hard headed and don’t always stop to pray about what God’s plans might be. Whenever I have a goal and I fail to reach it there are times when I have immediately set about trying to figure out a way to fix it and when that doesn't work I might take off on another track that would “work”.

And then I might begin to rack my brain to solicit help from a friend or family member who might be able to help me solve the problem. Never mind that the persons help whom we seek may not have any experience whatsoever in solving the type of problem that I'm having; they are available they are willing and by this time I'm desperate so their help is better than nothing at all. Right?

Recently I was going for just such a situation where I had stored a large number of things in a rented storage facility. Realizing that I had no way to lock the door I went in search of a good padlock at my local hardware store. I had to spend a little more money but the lock that I bought was one of the most secure that they had for sale and it serves the purpose as it kept my belongings safe.

My sister was about to move into her first apartment so I invited her to come for a visit and go through my storage unit to see if there was anything that she could use. After she arrived I went to get the key so that she could unlock the unit. I always kept the key on one particular key ring however I had recently given another friend permission to look through the stuff stored inside and when I went to find the key for my sister it was not where I had thought it would be. Apparently when my friend brought key back I had stuck it in a drawer somewhere. Since my sister was only going to be in town for a limited amount of time I had the brilliant idea of borrowing some cutters and simply cutting the lock off.

Long story short, this plan failed so we started to search for the padlock ski once again and luckily found it. We headed to the storage unit once again with key and hand ready to open the padlock only to find that our great idea of using cutters had damaged the lock and key would only partially open it.

A passerby suggested that he could go and get an electric saw and cut the lock off which seemed like a good idea until the lock ate the blade. The lock was still holding tight although it now had several dent in a couple of scratches that the saw blade had made.

I realize that the only option left to us was a locksmith who would charge a substantial fee. It was around this time that I realized if I had not been so impatient, given up and pushed forward rather than continuing the search for the missing key in the first place we might have opened the storage unit with no problems.

It struck me that I often deal with God’s plan for me in the same manner. When He puts a plan or a project in front of me to guide me with the least amount of suffering pain and frustration often questioned the conditions or the timing and end up second-guessing God and sabotaging things.

I often let individuals and circumstances intrude that are not good for me because I become desperate or impatient. Sure, there are times when I do get the desired results but my impatience can create much unnecessary turmoil. When I jump ahead of God’s plan for me just because I'm too lazy to work through things or because I am in a hurry to make things happen I create chaos.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us”’ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

God's plan for me is to show me the way to go and if I manage not to get in such a hurry that I try to outguess God it will save me time, frustration and as illustrated in the example I wrote about in this article, money.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-72369716095538832582010-05-26T14:53:00.003-05:002010-05-26T15:10:29.680-05:00Salvation Bracelet Craft KitsVacation Bible School is only a week or two away and I think Salvation Bracelet Craft kits may be something that the girls in my class' age group might enjoy making. It's hard to find a craft with meaning that doesn't require advanced artistic skills.

I found kits that have hemp cords and synthetic leather ones that come with laminated inspirational message cards that are written in both English and Spanish. The girls in my class will love making these and I believe that giving them to their friends who may not actually attend Bible School will help to spread the Word.

The Salvation bracelet craft kits with the inspirational message card that I was considering are advertised at .39 each which is very reasonable, in fact it's very cheap! But I'm on a very tight budget and have even been entering to win free stuff to use as supplies. If you know of a less expensive resource for the bracelet kits, would you please leave a comment telling me where to find them online? I would appreciate the helpUnique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-5545476915329905122010-05-14T13:57:00.002-05:002010-05-14T14:23:47.820-05:00BRINGING SOULS TO CHRISTI often wonder if there is a better way of bringing souls to Christ than to visit, leave pamphlets and invite people to join me at church. I know that many are hungry...no starved...for what our Savior has to give and are just waiting for an invitation.

Many times these lost souls stand silently in the background or worse yet, act in the most sinful ways imaginable in order to either be noticed or in a futile attempt to fill the emptiness in their lives with something even if it's the wrong thing.
However, as miserable and sad as these people can be they often take offense or are insulted and downright rebellious if a Christian shows up at their door bringing them an invitation to join your religious family.

We are told many times in the Bible that witnessing is important but we should be aware that the inspirational message can be delivered in many ways.

Here is one Bible verse about witnessing and bringing souls to Christ that I would like to share:

ACTS 1:8

"But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power to testify about me with great effect to the people in Jerusalem throughout Judea, and in Sumaria, and to the ends of the earth."

HOW TO WITNESS

Perhaps one of the most effective ways for us to witness would be how we live our own lives. Do we live the way Jesus would want us to live? Would He approve of our actions on any given day? Do we make it a practice to only go to places where He would go?

The way that we go about our day to day workaday lives can be a witness bringing souls to Christ. Our very lives can be a witness to the lost and then when we do have the opportunity to witness the lost person will be more receptive to our invitation.

The love of Jesus Christ is a beautiful gift that we can offer every lost person that is waiting for an invitation to receive the gift of salvation. We can be the motivation for the lost to seek salvation. We can show them the joy that comes from being a member of the family of God. Showing them rather than telling them that God's love can take away the pain is perhaps a better way.

Here is a poem that is an invitation to unsaved individuals.

To the tired and thirsty person
Plagued by sin and woe
Christ offers a place of comfort
Where the saved can go

He offers us cool water
And food enough to share
With those who would trade light for darkness
And tormented thoughts for prayer

His gift is wrapped in beauty
And eternal life too
A present of peace and joy so sweet
Waiting for you at Jesus' feet

Bringing lost souls to Christ's love can be a personal blessing, so let's dedicate ourselves to living the live the Jesus intended for us to receive it to the very fullest.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-50216520886989333002010-04-20T11:23:00.003-05:002010-04-20T11:42:06.135-05:00Will God Take Care of MeDuring these difficult times, many are asking "Will God Take Care of Me?" because they are facing situations that they never in their wildest dreams thought they would encounter. Virtually every family I know is suffering financial setbacks and worries and the root of this is the outcome of confusing what we WANT with our actual needs. The greed and dishonesty of a few have certainly brought us to a difficult time.

Will God provide for me in the manner to which I've become accustomed? That all depends! God promised to provide for our needs, not our wants. And He is the only one who knows exactly what we need and when we need it and I ask you do you really think that luxury has made people happy?

My faith and many inspirational Bible verses tell me that God will stand by me and supply what I need so long as I'm patient and willing to wait. Waiting on God can be difficult because he doesn't work according to our calendar. However, we can comfort in the knowledge that as we are struggling with a need that He in His wisdom already knows the need as He knows all things.

Knowing the answer to the question, will God take care of me provides comfort to my anxious soul. I know this because scripture assures me that if I wait on God, in faith, that He will provide.

Why would He let us reach the point of desperation? Perhaps this is to lead us to renew our dependence on Him and bring us back to the point of child like faith depending on him for all things.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-7297804041612649382010-04-19T09:47:00.002-05:002010-04-19T10:10:16.723-05:00JOYS OF BEING A CHRISTIANI recently had a moment to reflect on the joys of being a Christian and I would like to share my experience with you. On a recent lengthy car trip with my daughter, we had a chance for some mother-daughter conversations as well as moments of comfortable silence. During one of the quiet moments, I found myself having to manuever through a construction zone with uneven pavement that required some effort to keep the car on the road.

The jerking, weaving and pulling of the car was a bit scary and I started to get frustrated with trying to both keep us safe and find a smooth spot on the road. While I was feeling the stress and strain I happened to glance over at my little girl and saw that she was aware of the situation and the expression on her face was so horrified and yet funny that in spite of myself I got tickled!

At first she didn't appreciate the humor of the situation and seemed irritated that I was taking things so lightly. But the more I laughed the more she caught my mood, joined in and started to let go and laugh.

After making it through the rough patch just fine I started thinking of how the lighthearted moment made things better. There are so many moments every day that bring us to the brink of frustration, fear, worry and sometimes anger but what would the outcome be if we stopped, took a breath and reflected on the joys of being a Christian and to draw on those teachings?

Proverbs 17:22 tells us, "A merry heart does good like a medicine."

What if when sadness and heartache comes our way we respond to it with thinking of Luke 6:21 that states, "Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh."?

When financial problems arise, the Bible has an answer for that in Psalms 126:5 telling us, "But he that is of a merry heart has a continual feast."

And perhaps tensions on your job or in the office could be alleviated by referral to Proverbs 15:13 that says, "A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance."

Perhaps if we put these uplifting Bible verses to work every day we will find that the joys of being a Christian are contagious and we would be hard pressed to find better motivational quotes than the ones we find in above scripture.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-14834932910958286962010-02-19T14:52:00.004-06:002010-02-19T15:29:00.764-06:00Dedication to ChristI learned about dedication to Christ and standing by one's Christian beliefs early in life. You see, my mother and father had very different upbringings. My mom was raised on a country farm and my dad could scarcely claim any one location as his roots because his father was in the military and moved the family frequently. But where they lived early in life was not the most profound of their differences. Mother came from a long line of missionaries who dedicated their lives to spreading the word about Jesus.

It's true that opposites attract and according to both, from the moment they met they couldn't imagine spending life with anyone else. Mother set out to make a Christian home which was fine with my dad although it didn't seem as important to him as it did to her. Kids notice these things and I'm very fortunate that mother's dedication to Christ was as steadfast as it was or I may well have followed a different path.

An example of her devotion took place on a cold Sunday in winter day when we were all getting ready for church. The roads were in danger of becoming slick by afternoon so mother asked dad would he chauffer us to church and he refused saying that we could miss one day of preaching with no harm done.

Mother quietly turned and bundled me and my sister up just a little warmer and tugged on our rain boots and out the door we went, walking several miles to Sunday services. Where did this tiny lady find the strength to carry both of us in the freezing cold on icy roads? You can find the answer in Isaiah 40 that says:

"He gives power to the faint; and to them who have no might He increases strength....But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

A long time later I expressed how amazed I was that she had (what seemed to me) defied my dad and she directed me to read the inspirational Bible verse Romans 8:38-39 which says:

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Her dedication to Christ as shown on that cold day had not only an effect on all of us kids but on my dad as he not only accepted Jesus as his Saviour but went on to become a minister of the gospel himself! To her credit, her devotion and spiritual leadership brought all of my brothers and sisters to serve in some capacity within the church.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-81098543809873836192009-12-27T11:04:00.004-06:002009-12-27T12:29:42.387-06:00Recognizing the Need for CharityRecognizing the need for charity is perhaps the springboard for giving. I know very few people who would knowingly be stingy if they knew that a person of their acquaintance was in need. However, many fail to stop and think about whether another is doing without because even in difficult times most are truly are blessed and have more than enough.

This is one of the quotes about charity that best illustrates my point:

Nothing is so hard for those who are surrounded by riches than to conceive how others can be in need.

The problem is that many proud families or individuals are not going to wave flags announcing their needs to the world. How do we identify who is in need? First of all, there are many charitable organizations run by fine people that make recognizing the need for charity their life's work. You can take your pick from a list of charities that would appreciate anything you have to offer including financial assistance in your area. Or if you would prefer a more personal approach to giving, you might take a moment and think of the friends or family members in your own neighborhood that have lost jobs and fallen on hard times that might appreciate a carefully offered helping hand.

Return to Motivational Inspirational Posters Poems and Quotes to find more ways that we can offer comfort and kindness after recognizing the need for charity.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-60418275117672915412009-12-21T13:55:00.003-06:002009-12-21T17:51:24.017-06:00KEEPING KINDNESS in CHRISTMASIt's always important to focus on keeping kindness in Christmas, but in these difficult times it's crucial that we take time to see and help with the needs of others less fortunate. And yes, no matter how tight our budgets are pinched or how lean our cupboards the search for someone who could use some assistance will sadly not end far from our door.

Even if money is tight it would be helpful to go through your closet and find some warm clothes to take to a shelter. A coat or a jacket would mean everything to a person who may have none.

Another way of keeping kindness in Christmas is to offer your services at no charge. The elderly would appreciate a little help with yard work or a lift to an appointment would be a luxury compared to public transportation.

Young parents with children often lack trustworthy babysitters. Volunteer to keep the little ones for a few hours while they do a little last minute shopping or just to enjoy each other's company.

Try it, you might be amazed at how these simple acts of kindness may enrich your own holiday season. If you have written inspirational or motivational poem, I would be happy to feature it here.

Perhaps since I grew up in a home that provided the bare essentials of life, expressing gratitude comes easily to me. When I see all of the blessings that surround me I am virtually amazed at the richness of my life but I am so thankful that I didn’t get so much early on that I am ungrateful. Today’s kids are being cheated by their parents because they have so much they don’t know how to be thankful.

As an example, a month or two ago I was in a clothing store that doesn’t carry designer clothes but stocks good clothes for an affordable price. I was behind a mother in line with an eight year old (or thereabouts) child. The sour, disgruntled attitude was pouring off the child because his mom had not taken him to a more exclusive store to buy his school uniforms. He was disrespectful, unpleasant and by no means did he have an attitude of gratitude. This child was by no means thankful or appreciative that his mother was spending her hard earned money on his needs rather than her own.

I can well remember getting excited about school starting in the fall because that meant that we would get new clothes and shoes. Once the clothes were bought, we were told which items were for everyday wear and which ones would be saved for church on Sunday and special occasions. I remember one of my sisters conveniently losing her everyday shoes once in hopes that she would be allowed to wear her best shoes to school one day. Mother, merely told her she would stay home from school to search until she found her school shoes. And in those days, staying home meant doing "special" work for mom if you weren’t sick and unable to get out of bed. Amazingly my sister located her missing loafers within the next few minutes.

Some might look at such an upbringing as being deprived and I suppose in some ways they are right. But what I see is a lesson in expressing gratitude. When you have done without and learned to make do you learn to be grateful for things that you might otherwise take for granted.

Take this opportunity to reflect on whether we fully appreciate gifts from our Heavenly Father. Are we grateful for His sacrifice of the greatest gift ever bestowed upon us – the gift of everlasting life? Are we thankful that we woke this morning in good health surrounded by His love? Do we feel the need to express our gratitude to Him who gave us the give of love, peace and grace?Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-41896097194213419572009-11-27T12:43:00.003-06:002009-11-27T12:48:17.216-06:00THANKFUL and GRATEFULAfter the lovely day I had yesterday, I can honestly say that I am both thankful and grateful. The meal that was prepared was beautifully prepared and the love around the table was warm and comforting, completely unlike the so-called family shows we see on television.

One of my favorite family quotes is this one, "The family is one of nature's masterpieces." Which is attributed to George Santayana and I agree with this quotation wholeheartedly.

How sad that our children are being taught that all families are filled with angst and to be "trapped" in the house with them for a day is tantamount to torture. Even the film reviews that I read listing the picks and pans of holiday movies offer their choices up as excellent opportunities to escape from family over Thanksgiving weekend.

Parents have their jobs cut out for them in battling the messages sent to their kids that are brainwashing them into believing that the people who love them most are at best ridiculous and laughable and at worst, downright intolerable. Why do we as consumers allow paid advertising and television programming to diminish the importance of family?

All we can do is to reinforce the belief that family is something to be both grateful and thankful for and that if someone tries to tell them otherwise then THEY are laughable and pathetic NOT our family members.

Return to Motivational Inspirational Posters Poems and Quotes to find my thoughts and quotes on being both thankful and grateful.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-80237202294530593242009-11-22T10:02:00.003-06:002009-11-22T10:11:55.500-06:00Mind Your Own Business Quotes and SayingsSince I made my first post on this subject some of the mind your own business quotes and sayings that have been posted as comments have literally cracked me up! I'm relatively certain that the circumstances in which these statements were delivered were less than humorous but one or two of them were hilarious.

"If it's not your tail don't be wagging it."

This saying that I would like to focus on today has to do with breaking the bad habit of gossiping. So many people say the peace and productivity in their workplace was totally destroyed by office gossip. It only takes one worker with a loose tongue and a mean spirit to reduce a team into utter turmoil. It's the brave soul who is willing to nip malicious gossip around the water cooler in the bud by sharing a few mind your own business quotes and sayings before things get completely out of hand.

Bad news travels fast but juicy gossip knows no limits. Consider that your affairs may be the next topic of discussion the next time you are tempted to stir the pot or better yet, gently advise a co-worker that gossiping is never a good idea.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-30120859336355518862009-11-21T08:32:00.004-06:002009-11-21T08:55:13.289-06:00Minding Your Own BusinessMinding your own business should be at the top of any list of health tips. In my humble opinion, breaking the habit of being nosy may be just as beneficial to your body as diet and exercise.

How many times have you been guilty of "sticking your nose in a hornet's nest" only to have it backfire on you? Meddling with the natural order of things can be harmful to you as well as those whose lives you are tampering with.

The temptation to fix things for other people can be very strong. Seeing our loved ones suffer the consequences of their unwise actions is never pleasant but it's best to turn them over to the care and wisdom of a loving God than to become involved in situations where we may not see the whole picture.

After trying to be a "fixer" you may find that minding your own business gives you freedom to work on your own problems that are truly within your power to fix. God expects us to focus on our own individual spiritual and physical health not to run around trying to do his job for him.

Here is a joke that proves that not minding your own business can be very painful.

A man was taking a stroll past a fenced yard the other day when he heard a group of people shouting, '13....13....13.'

Intrigued, he wanted to take a peek, but the fence was too high for him to look over. His curiosity was growing but there was no ladder to use to see over that fence and then he happened to see a small gap between the boards of the fence so he ran over and put his eye to the hole so that he could see what all the shouting was about....and then... somebody poked him right in the eye with a stick!

At that point the shouting became '14....14....14'...

Consider this a silly reminder to mind your own business!

Return to Motivational Inspirational Posters Poems and Quotes or subscribe to our feed to see more tips on behavior modification that may enrich our daily lives.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-78354640730729837142009-10-17T14:15:00.004-05:002009-10-17T14:39:47.624-05:00The Family of GodEven the most devout Christians sometimes overlook the importance of belonging to the family of God. To be children of our Lord means that we are members of a holy family and will receive all the benefits and privileges belonging to this group right here and now.

There's no need to wait until we arrive in Heaven to enjoy the peace, love and hope that are the special attributes of the family of God. We are by rights the heirs with Christ Jesus of an inheritance devine beyond imagination but with that blessing comes the responsibility of conducting ourselves in such a manner as behooves children of God.

Consider the words of

1 John 3:1
"Hear what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God;and that is what we are."

Further confirmation is found in

1 John 3:2, "Beloved, we are God's children now..."

No wonder that there are so many beautiful poems and songs celebrating the Family of God!

What an honor and joy it is to obey and serve God. All should consider this to be a privilege and a pleasure to live in love and obedience according to His will. However, there are times when we want to enjoy the benefits of this relationship without shouldering the responsibilities.

Obedience to God is one of such responsibilities. But what a small price to pay for the blessing that are bestowed upon the children of God!

Return to Motivational Inspirational Posters Poems and Quotes for more thoughts on what it means to be a child of God.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-46372162801584610452009-09-21T12:09:00.003-05:002009-09-21T12:16:56.742-05:00Christian Homeschool Curriculum

<A class="APCAnchor" HREF="http://affiliates.allposters.com/link/redirect.asp?AID=811711103&PSTID=4<ID=16&lang=1">Buy Posters at AllPosters.com

The benefits of choosing the best Christian homeschool curriculum available are far reaching long past the days spent in the classroom. The subject matter and how it is presented to young minds is to prepare them for the complex and confusing world that lies beyond the security of the family home.

It is crucial to give our children the security early on in their faith and beliefs so that when controversial ideas that they will come in contact with will not leave them feeling confused and unsure of which direction they should take in life. The start of building this solid foundation is a well constructed Christian homeschool curriculum and a healthy, happy Christian home.

When shopping a program, remember that you should never judge a book by its cover. Make a proper assessment of your child’s skill level and study goals and dig into the material on your own before forming opinions. Dig deeply into the lessons to be sure that it will be mentally challenging without being so much so that your student becomes frustrated and defeated.

Once you narrow the possible selections, it would not hurt to involve your child in the process. This will help you to identify his or her areas of interest and to form a partnership in the learning process which is the ultimate goal in homeschooling.

Finding a workable Christian homeschool curriculum is just the beginning and possibly the easiest part of teaching your children at home. But the rewards are such that you never have to worry that prayer is denied or that wrong ideas are being presented as the "cool thing to do".

An inspirational Bible verse that is tailor made for Christian homeschooling parents is found in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-4785678166526407952009-09-12T14:18:00.004-05:002009-09-12T14:26:27.498-05:00GENUINE CHRISTIAN BELIEFS and PRACTICESThere are many who profess to have and to follow genuine Christian beliefs and practices that are merely going through the motions at best or at worst are knowingly pretending to be true believers. Theirs is a false pretense even though some are so polished and practiced in this behavior that no man on earth will ever be the wiser.

But the Bible teaches us that man’s opinion is not the one that counts. Someday they will face God and be judged phony. Jesus tells us that God will separate the real Christian from the phony Christian and that on this day there will be no hiding what is in your heart. Separation will be according to the individual’s spiritual relationship with God through his son, Jesus Christ and their genuine Christian beliefs and practices, not how good they were at fooling their fellow man.

We are taught that a list of good works, affiliation with a particular religious denomination and reputation are not important and that while these things may be evidence of a relationship with God, they are just evidence. You can read on how the Lord will separate the believers from the non-believers in the book of Matthew 25: 31-46.

Now is the time to examine your own relationship with God and if you feel there is room for improvement a good place to work on it is in the church of your choosing and by discussing your feelings with your spiritual guide. One day, when it counts you will be ever so happy that you did.

Return to Motivational Inspirational Posters Poems and Quotes to join us in our own journey towards a relationship with God through Christ our Savior.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-58847741416517314862009-09-07T14:44:00.004-05:002009-09-07T14:53:02.962-05:00SCRIPTURE for a BROKEN HEART

<A class="APCAnchor" HREF="http://affiliates.allposters.com/link/redirect.asp?AID=484218881&PSTID=4<ID=16&lang=1">Buy Posters at AllPosters.com

I had a phone call from a dear friend that prompted me to search for some scripture for a broken heart after my early morning devotional. I must confess that I was less than enthusiastic about learning my Bible memory verses on any day but was especially reluctant when I could hear the kids from less religious households outside playing.

As an adult I am now very thankful that the Holy Spirit (and my determined Christian parents) encouraged me to devote some time each and every day to committing some scripture to memory. Back then I felt very sad and put upon that I might miss playing basketball, jumping rope or anything that didn't involve sitting in my room reading God's word. However, once I matured and had a few years of experience I came to realize that the benefits of missing a few hours of playtime would no doubt last me a lifetime.

When I feel weak and feel the need to be in the company of Jesus, to feel better and more assured all I have to do is recite the words that I memorized so long ago from John 11:25-26 where Jesus stated to Martha "I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."

During times of trouble or loss comforting Bible verses such as this one reassure us that our troubles are temporary but that through our belief in Jesus Christ we shall never die.

Return to Motivational Inspirational Posters Poems and Quotes to find more scripture that offers comfort during times of sorrow and grief.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-37699666326508123142009-08-29T11:12:00.004-05:002009-09-04T10:16:50.060-05:00SCRIPTURES ON DEALING WITH THE DEVILScriptures on dealing with the devil not only reinforce what we know about his true nature and his capabilities for evil, but give us the tools to defeat him. Any soldier will tell you that it’s very important to know your enemy.

I Peter 5:8-9

We do not fight or wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness.

This quote tells us what we need to know about our opponent he seeks to infect your very spirit with ugliness and evil.

HIS NAME :
What he is called may or may not be of importance as the Prince of Darkness is known by many names such as Lucifer, Satan, the wicked one and perhaps the most profound; EVIL!

HIS PERSONALITY :
He is a trickster and a liar. He knows exactly how to present the bait so that the weak and those who are unaware will fall into his trap.

HIS ACTIONS :
He is a master deceiver that has taken control of too many souls. He is constantly on the prowl searching for more to do his bidding.

HOW TO WIN the BATTLE :
The best strategy for beating and defeating the devil is to arm ourselves with our faith. My favorite scripture telling how to deal with the devil is

Ephesians 6:10

We are to buckle our loins with the truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness, cove our feet with the Gospel of Peace, wear the helmet of salvation and have with us the shield of faith.

Then we take the Word of our Savior which is in reality the sword of the Spirit and offer up much prayer. And there is another weapon we may use against him which is resistance. If you are able to resist his temptations he will run from you in his failure.

I’m certain that there are many more scriptures on dealing with the devil but in my mind this Bible verse in Ephesians tells me everything I need to know about how to deal with and defeat the devil when he comes calling.

Return to Motivational Inspirational Posters Quotes and Scriptures on Dealing with the Devil
to see more discussion on how to resist the temptations that are placed in our path.

Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7222820311055187318.post-44913270441641030582009-08-22T19:48:00.002-05:002009-08-22T20:01:18.423-05:00Keep Your Eye on EternityOne of my favorite quotes about eternity is that it seems like a long time coming but once it arrives you hope that you don't want it to end quickly. Ponder this quotation and you will undoubted see the urgency to keep ourselves focused on eternity rather than the endless pursuit of things that are meant to get the message across to our neighbor that we are big wheels and a roaring success financially.

Our Lord knows that we have to be industrious in order to obtain the many needs of our families. But I have to believe that His plan for us was to be content with the basics. I'm sure that he didn't mean for us to spend so much of our lives fighting to have huge homes and endless amounts of stuff that we don't really need or SHOULDN'T need in order to feel truly bless and contented.

There is a scripture about this that states, "Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you," and there is another that tells us "Contentment is great gain."
I take these statements to mean that we should spend more time thinking about how we might honor His name, be helpful to those in need and eternity will be paradise.

I hope that on your next visit to Motivational Inspirational Posters Poems and Quotes about Eternity that you can share something that you did for your fellow man or tell us what you donated that you had no need for and that you are more contented.Unique Baby Gear Ideashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02951126272568314611noreply@blogger.com0
